Finding the Perfect Pet Rabbit

Are you thinking about adopting a rabbit?  Congratulations!  Rabbits make great pets and you have plenty of breeds to choose from.  There are more than 40 different breeds that have been recognized by scientists and they vary is color, fur length, and size.  The tiniest rabbits weigh in at only 2 pounds and the hefty ones can be over 10 pounds.

One of the biggest questions you will face in choosing a rabbit is which gender you should buy.  Depending on which breeder you talk to, you will get various opinions.  Most of the time, female rabbits are very temperamental.  If she isn’t spayed, she will often bite or be aggressive, even when you do daily care.  She might nip at you when you reach in the cage to feed her.  If you aren’t going to breed your rabbit, a female can be spayed which will help her have a more even temperament. Male rabbits are not usually aggressive.  However, much like male puppies, they will spray urine if they are not neutered.  Ultimately, the rabbit’s behavior will just depend on the personality of that particular behavior.  There are no guarantees.

You should also consider grooming when choosing your pet rabbit.  Angoras and Jersey woolies have longer hair and will need extra care when it comes to grooming.  Some other breeds won’t need to be brushed as often and will require less daily care.

The best thing you can do is to actually observe the rabbit before you purchase it.  Talk with breeders in your area.  Check out the conditions where the rabbit is visiting.  Ask to hold the rabbit and watch how it reacts when the cage is opened.  Does it nip?  Is it eager to be held or skittish?  Choose a rabbit that eagerly comes to the door, seeking out attention and love.  Some will even start to grunt in their happiness to be held!  If the rabbit retreats to the back of the cage when it’s opened, then it is probably not going to have a good social temperament.

Are Rabbits Good Pets for Kids?

Okay, so my husband and I told our 3 year old that we would get him a pet for his birthday. Why we said this, I have no idea, but we did. We already have a dog and a cat, so we really do not need any more little furry creatures running around the house. I have a hard enough time keeping the house clean with the previously mentioned pets, a 3 year old boy and a husband. None of which seem to be able to pick up after themselves.

One pet that we were considering getting for him is a rabbit. One thing that I liked about this particular pet is that we could keep it outside. I don’t think it would be a problem to have it inside really, but with a dog that is always chasing wild rabbits, I don’t think that I want to have to deal with indoor chases and possibly a dead pet rabbit. This leads me to think that even if we did keep it outside, there may still be a problem with the dog thinking that the rabbit is her toy.

This is why I wanted to get some advice on what type of pet to get my son. I don’t want reptiles of any kind in my house, so lizards and snakes are out of the question. He would be too young to take of them anyway. I don’t know, maybe we should just go with a gerbil or hamster and hope that it doesn’t get eaten by any other pet in the house!

Why Rabbits Make Good Pets

I believe that rabbits make good pets and are even good pets for little children. I remember my daughter had a rabbit once she called Bayba. She loved him so very much and it actually taught her at the very young age of 5 how to care for and love an animal on her own. I gave her a lot of responsibility for taking care of this rabbit and I believe that is why she is so good with animals to this day.

Rabbits make great pets for several reasons. One of the reasons rabbits make great pets is because they are quiet. As most of you know who have dogs as pets, they can be quite loud at times and can even wake you up from sleeping when they become too loud. With a rabbit as a pet you never have to worry about them waking you up because they make tiny little sounds that will not wake up even the lightest of sleepers.

Another reason rabbits make a good choice for a pet is because they can be trained to use a litter pan just like a cat. You will not have to worry about letting your rabbit outside every time they have to go to the bathroom because all you have to do is set out a litter pan for them to use. Cleaning a litter pan is much easier than taking your pet outside all hours of the day and night.

Rabbits are also good to have around because they like to eat leftover green vegetables and fruits. Instead of throwing these items away you can make good use of them by feeding them to your pet. No need to buy special food for your pet if it is a rabbit!

Breathe Better With Electronic Cigarettes

I am sure if you have read the newspaper or seen magazine adds lately you have read something about electronic cigarettes. This is because electronic cigarettes have become extremely popular and are starting to take over the smoking world as we know it.

Electronic cigarettes are a much healthier form of smoking because they allow the smoker to have all the same sensations as they have with smoking traditional cigarettes without all the harsh chemicals and tobacco that have been known to cause cancer as well as other horrible diseases. When you smoke an electronic cigarette you are not actually smoking but rather what they call ‘vaping’. An electronic cigarette is really just a small vaporizer that is used to enjoy breathing in wonderful flavors that so many people are beginning to enjoy.

Of course if you would prefer to stick with your traditional tobacco flavoring you can do that as well because electronic cigarette companies have included tobacco flavor as one of the choices in flavorings.

Using electronic cigarettes in place of your traditional tobacco cigarettes is a win win situation for everyone involved. If you have been smoking for a long time, it is likely that those around you have become use to you smelling like a cigarette and use to your clothes smelling like it too. When you smoke or “vape” rather, electronic cigarettes you will not be covered from head to toe with the nasty smell of cigarettes. You may find that you have the faint smell of whatever flavor electronic cigarette you are smoking but you will not have that horribly strong tobacco smell following you around everywhere. According to Ever Smoke reviews, this is one of the most substantial benefits of switching to e-cigs.

Also your second hand smoke will no longer harm your friends and loved ones. This is because electronic cigarettes do not contain tobacco and do not produce second hand smoke. As I said before, if one of your friends comes up to you while you are using your electronic cigarette he or she may be able to smell the faint scent of the current flavor you are using but they will not be turned away by any second hand smoke. This is good news for you and your friends because you will no longer have to leave the room when you want to smoke, you can stay and enjoy the company of those whom you love.

If you have smoked traditional cigarettes for a while you are likely to have suffered in your breathing. Let that be a thing of the past and begin to breathe easier by letting electronic cigarettes replace your tobacco cigarette. You and those around you will be glad you did. You will be doing your lungs a favor as well! Learn more about the best electronic cigarettes by reading CocktailNerd E-Cigarettes reviews. Raising Market Rabbits for 4-H

The fact that your child has the opportunity to start raising livestock and selling it at the county fair will be just one of the ways your child will benefit from becoming a full-fledged 4-H member. Raising market animals will teach your child about responsibility and hard work, selling the livestock at the county fair teaches your child that they can’t keep everything and how hard making money can be, and the money they make from the sale can be put in savings account that they can sue at some point in the future.

The best way to introduce your very young child to raising and selling market livestock at the county fair will be with rabbits. The rabbits will be easy enough for your child to care for on their own, as long as your child starts handling the rabbit when they first get it, the odds of them getting hurt will be minimal, and unlike steers and hogs, the rabbits don’t take up much room and won’t offend your neighbors.

When selecting market rabbits for your child, you want to stick to rabbits typically use for meat such as Californians, New Zealand, and Champagne D’Argent. For young children the French White’s a good choice because they generally finish out at 6lbs and will be easier for your child to raise.

When raising rabbits for meat, you need to make sure your child supplies their rabbits with a steady supply of clean water. They’ll also want to feed the rabbit plenty of 16% fiber rabbit pellets. Refrain from feeding the market rabbits lettuce, grass, and carrots, which won’t assist in their weight gain. It takes about three months to get a rabbit ready to be butchered.

Good News for People Diagnosed with Schizophrenia

Schizophrenia is a terrible disease. We first paid attention to this particular disorder when animals were used in therapy to ease anxiety that is associated with it. Many therapists suggested that that patients have a small pet such as a rabbit to help them cope and relax. According to research, rabbits do seem to help people with psychiatric disorders. Of course, there are many other lines of treatment that can be helpful as well.

If you have a friend or relative who has been diagnosed with schizophrenia, you have probably noticed that they smoke. An estimated 75% of everyone with schizophrenia smokes. Some workers in the mental health profession have reported that 75% seems like a very low estimate, and figure that 90% of their schizophrenia patients smoke. With such a large number of the schizophrenia population smoking, it stands to reason that there?s some type of link between the cognitive illness and nicotine.

Some studies have been done on the link between schizophrenia and nicotine. The results of these studies indicate that when an individual with schizophrenia smokes, they help balance the brains chemicals, namely dopamine and glutamate. By helping to balance the brains chemical balance, the person has fewer schizophrenic episodes and is able to live a more normal life than they would be able to enjoy were it not for the nicotine. Scientist and medical professionals who work with individuals with schizophrenia have noticed that when the person smokes, they are better able to learn, having improved thinking speed, their long/short term memory improves, and they find it easier to focus.

The problem with using nicotine to make life easier for folks living with schizophrenia is that the results don?t last very long. They?re very short lived. Another issues scientists have noticed is that the human brain seems to form a kind of resilience to the nicotine, and the schizophrenic will have to smoke more heavily in order to have the same results.

While scientist and members of the medical community are thrilled to see an improvement in the brains chemical makeup when it?s exposed to nicotine, they have some very real concerns. While the cigarette smoke helps improve the schizophrenic mind, it takes a toll on the person?s body. They experience the same long term side effects to smoking that everyone else does.

Some people have tried using nicotine patches instead of cigarettes. The results weren?t encouraging. The schizophrenics who wore the patches did not experience the same improvement in their cognitive function that they showed when they smoked a cigarette. In order to work, the nicotine had to be inhaled.

According to information in e cigarettes reviews, Electric cigarettes could be the answer. The general population uses electronic cigarettes as a substitute for real cigarettes. It?s possible that the schizophrenic population would be able to do the same. Electronic cigarettes have been designed to produce a dense vapor cloud. The amount of nicotine that the vapor cloud produces depends on the vapor juice used. Although the long term effects of the vapor remain unknown, most people writing Green Smoke reviews agree that they have to be better than the long term effects of heavy smoking. The other advantage of electronic cigarettes is that they don?t produce anything that would harm others who don?t smoke the way that second hand smoke does.

The Luck of 5,000 Rabbit Feet

When I am out in town and people ask me what I do for a living, my answer always surprises them. “I’m a rabbit breeder,” I will say with a smile. The other person will undoubtedly look at me with raised eyebrows and say, “Wow! That’s not a typical career.” I guess they are totally right in that assessment. There is nothing normal about my career as a rabbit breeder, but there was also nothing normal about how it all started either. Let me back up a little and tell you the whole story.

Five years ago, I knew nothing about rabbits. I had never touched a rabbit. I had never seen a rabbit in person. I certainly had no idea how to care for rabbits. Instead, I spent my days as an accountant, crunching numbers behind a banged up desk in a strip mall. I became an accountant because numbers were easy for me. I was always a whiz at math so it just seemed like the natural choice when I went away to college. Of course, no one bothered to tell me that accountants are only really busy during tax season. The rest of the year is spent balancing checkbooks for senior citizens and twiddling your thumbs while you read reports on the stock market. To put it simply, I was bored out of my mind.

I started playing games at an online casino website just to pass the time at work. Some days I would sit at my desk for hours with nothing to do. Tax season always made up for the slow months financially, but sometimes it seemed like summer lasted forever! The only way I could get through those long days was by playing mobile slots at Bet365Casino or playing online poker at Sky Vegas.

It was an ordinary, boring summer day when it happened. I logged into one of my favorite mobile casinos and started playing slots. Five minutes into the games, the silent office came alive with sound as alarms rang out from my computer. “JACKPOT!” flashed across my screen and I stared in shock. “This isn’t really happening!” was all I could think. Sure enough, I had won a jackpot worth two million dollars by playing a casino game online.

I jumped up from my desk and called my girlfriend. I asked her to meet me for lunch at our favorite sushi restaurant. We chatted over our Philadelphia rolls while I pretended that everything was fine. I was trying to think of the perfect way to tell her (she didn’t know I had been playing on the casinos in the first place) and I finally just asked her a simple question. “If I gave you two million dollars right now, what would you do?”

She smiled slyly and said, “Hmmm. I think I would wait for my fortune cookie and let it decide for me.” I knew she was just hoping I would take the hint and go fetch our waiter to bring her a fortune cookie… she has a thing for fortune cookies. However, her remark backfired. As I considered what she said, I decided to see what would happen. “Okay, “ I said. “I just won two million dollars playing an online casino game and we’re going to let the fortune cookie decide what we do with it.”

Before she had a chance to respond (her mouth was hanging open in shock), I cracked open my cookie and pulled out the little slip of paper. I laughed out loud as I read the fortune: “Your future holds the luck of 5,000 rabbit feet.”

That afternoon, we went out and bought Sunny and Bunny. They became the Adam and Eve of our rapidly multiplying rabbit empire. I quit my job as an accountant and spend my days breeding rabbits. I would say that we’ll hit 5,000 rabbit feet any day now.

A Detective’s Story

Most cops are the serious type. Me? I’m no different. Everything in life is serious and I take my job serious. This case had been keeping me up for months. What did a cheese maker, a dog catcher, and a fire hose have to do with the bank robbery? It sounded even crazier in real life. The first corner bank was the center of town and it had been hit hard. Three million in cash was gone and the only lead I had was these three things. Surprisingly, the chief had asked me to take the case. I guess he knew that I was serious and that a serious issue called for a serious cop.

After toiling over the case for nearly 2 months I had come to the realization that the cheese maker was more important than I originally thought. He was the mastermind if you will. Here is how it all went down. According to my investigation the dog catcher and the cheese maker had met in the chat room of a local online gaming community. Through mindless chitchat they realized that they each had money troubles and they were both in the same town. After talking for a few weeks they came up with a plot to rob the first corner bank blind. And it was a good scheme.

The cheese maker was a steady customer to the bank. The dogcatcher was constantly driving past the bank sense his office was 3 blocks south of the branch. The had decided that on the appointed day they would act out there devious plan. Everyone knows that dogs love fire hydrants. Seeing as how this town was over run with dogs, the hydrants were continually…hydrated if you will. On this day the cheese maker was to make his deposit and set up the diversion. Just before walking into the bank he attached a 15 foot fire hose to the hydrant. 3 minutes later, the dog catcher drives up, lets out a stray and he starts to sniff the hydrant.

The dog then notices the hose, starts to bark and bite and before you know it there is a real scene going on outside the bank. Noticing the commotion outside the bank manager strolls past the cheese maker and examines the situation. For nearly 90 seconds the manager is awe struck at the scene. This gives the cheese maker enough time to set off the alarm. In the ensuing madness he walks past security and into the open vault. The rest as they say is history.

The saddest part to the whole story? They didn’t need the money. They were just bored. These guys were already multi-millionaires. How? Online gaming. They were masters of bingo and each had won several jackpots. The moral of the story? Crime doesn’t pay. But Bingo does. Take it from me… play bingo and avoid robbing banks. Banish the Jitters Before Performing

I love singing. I can’t imagine not being able to. Most of the time I think I love performing. I know I enjoy performing when I’m on stage, the time I’m not quite so confident is in the couple of hours leading up to the performance. When I first started performing with our band “The Black Rabbits”, everyone always told me that my pre-performance jitters would go away after I’d been performing for a while. They were wrong. They’ve gotten a lot worse.

My nerves are so bad, that just getting dressed to go out on the stage is a challenge. My fingers shake so badly I can’t do up snaps and buttons on my costumes. Two months ago, my hands shook so badly I got my brush tangled in my hair. My agent happened to be at that particular show and was worried we’d have to cut it out.

I’ve never been a smoker, but one day, without even realizing what I was doing I took one of the stage hands cigarettes and started puffing away. The nicotine had a magical effect on me. It didn’t make my pre-performance anxiety go away, but it calmed me down enough to prep for the show. I even made it onto the stage without having to stop three or four time to puke into garbage cans.

Although I was happy that the cigarettes helped me settle enough to function, I was also really concerned. I’m a singer. My voice is how I earn a living. I can’t afford any habits that could potentially damage my throat or my lungs.

I decided to try electronic cigarettes. Even though the idea of inhaling vapor made me a little nervous, no one really know what the potential long term effects of the vapor could be, I figured it had to be better than cigarette smoke. I also reasoned that as long as I only used the electronic cigarettes right before my performances, and stayed away from them the rest of the time, I should be able to minimize the risk.

I’ve been the owner of a couple electronic cigarette vaporizers for about six months and have used them to get through fifty-six performances. I use chocolate flavored vapor juice that has the maximum amount of vapor juice. I love the results. The nicotine calms my nerves enough so that I can go through the sound check and get myself dressed for my performance. So far, my voice has remained as strong as ever. I’ve been so happy with the electronic cigarettes, that I’ve convinced a couple of the guys in my band, both long time smokers, to give the electronic cigarettes a try. One, my drummer, loves them. My bassist likes the idea of them but he’s having a difficult time finding a brand that produces a vapor that tastes like his cigarettes.
